PHASEBUILT Build my plan
FOR BEGINNERS

A beginner workout plan
for people starting cold.

If you have never followed a programme, the hard part is not the training, it is deciding what to do, how often, with what, and how much to eat. Phasebuilt answers all four from a short questionnaire, free.

It starts below what you can handle

The first thirty days are called Foundation and deliberately leave something in reserve. That is not caution for its own sake: starting at the intensity you imagine finishing at is the single most common reason a beginner attempt ends in week three. The test of a good first month is whether you can repeat the session two days later.

You do not need a gym

Pick bodyweight only and the programme is rebuilt with movements that need nothing, progressing through leverage and tempo instead of load. Pick a full gym and you get barbell and machine work. Neither is a reduced version of the other.

You choose the days, honestly

Three days you actually complete beat six you plan and abandon. Choose the number you could defend on a bad week. The split is built around that number rather than a six day template squeezed down.

The eating side is handled too

Most beginner plans stop at the workouts, which leaves you guessing at the part that decides whether the training does anything. You get a daily calorie target and a protein target calculated from your own height, weight, age and activity, plus meals for the way you actually eat.

What the first month looks like

Weeks 1 to 4
Foundation: movement quality, a volume you can repeat, and the habit
What you record
Load and reps after each session, which is what makes progress visible
What changes next
Phase two increases volume and applies progressive overload

Take it slowly with anything that hurts

Ordinary muscle soreness a day or two after training is normal. Sharp pain, joint pain, or anything that does not settle is not, and it should be looked at by a qualified clinician rather than trained through. This is general fitness information, not medical advice.

Tell it your equipment and your days. It handles the rest.
